1954 – from The Book of First Runs

The Jersey Central begins operation of the Rail Diesel Cars (RDC). The first four cars are number 551-554, all RDC-1’s. The CNJ would purchase three more in 1957 and in 1958 would acquire four from the Susquehanna Railroad.
